SpiritualLead.com is the centerpiece for the ministry of the Institute for Spiritual Leadership Training. Through the Web site, individuals, ministry staff teams, and long distance learners gain skills and develop insight into the practical processes of influencing others toward God’s agenda.
The mission statement of SpiritualLead.com communicates goals for text posted on the site: “Articles addressing specific topical areas of leadership are written in a format allowing for practical and direct application, not only to the ministry but to the marketplace as well.”
The Web site’s main learning component is arranged into three levels of need: 5minutesORLess weblog, Fix; Train; and Grow.
5minutesORLess is designed to provide key thoughts on leadership in a format that is easily consumable and digestible. Postings 3-5 times a week gives a daily thought or tidbit of information to help think through and act out the key role of influencing others.
FIX is designed to help a person with an immediate issue. When you are up to your ears in the proverbial alligator swamp, a long but interesting article on the art of draining swamps is not what you need. The Fix articles are short, bulleted, and practical, containing steps for working through issues as diverse as correcting performance, establishing accountability, addressing power agendas, working through conflicts, and dealing with major change, risk, or decision making.
TRAIN is designed to provide all the tools necessary for a leader to conduct staff training on a leadership topic. The leader prepares by going through the trainer’s guide which provides object lessons, teaching/learning points, key questions to ask, and an outline for the weekly training experience. Supplementing the trainer’s guide are Power Point® slides and the Discussion Handout. In three to four training sessions, staff read the article and complete HomeWorkBook notes.
In addition to in-person training, each leadership topic is designed for long-distance coaching.
GROW provides the leadership articles. The collection of Level 3 – Grow leadership articles make up the Handbook for Spiritual Leaders. The articles on the Web are identical to those in this book-series format.
The Web site also provides tools to enhance the learning experience. Visitors have both the ability to take notes online while reading an article and the opportunity to record their spiritual leadership training progress through the My Training Record page. Ministries also have the ability to set up a hierarchy on the Web site, thus enabling those responsible for ministry and training to see how their team is progressing throughout the training process.
In 2008, SpiritualLead.com went through the final beta testing to be used as the spiritual leadership training platform for one of the largest denominational missionary programs in the world.
